Today was the day for my annual mammogram - just routine. Before I went my friend said "Oh I'll see you at the clinic - I'm getting my biopsy results but they've already told me really."
It was a shock as I didn't know she'd had tests. So I prayed all the long way there.
After my test I sat with her and her daughter. And yes, she does have cancer.
She is so brave "Oh well, that's life and we just get on with it, don't we?" she smiled.
I left her to go for a girly lunch and shopping trip with her daughter and then they are off to break the news to an elderly relative. I am seeing her again later.
Once I'd left them and no longer had to put on a brave face about how she has caught it early, wonderful treatments these days etc I just felt as heavy as lead.
Normally after my check up I always go to the local fabric store for a treat. My friend said "Enjoy your treat!" cos she knows that's where I go after hospital. I just wanted to come home but I didn't, I remembered what she'd said and "I got on with it" but the joy in my treasures found is somewhat lost but they will keep me busy ~smile~

Lynn - so sorry to hear your friend's news. But I know YOU will be a good support to her in the months ahead. And knowing you, your purchases will probably end up being used creatively in a loving gift of some sort for her!!

Will do. There is a local farm where I buy much produce in the summer. They have twin 8 year old grandsons. One of them died night before last -complications from an e-coli infection. The morning before he was taken to the hospital in critical condition (about a week and a half ago) i ran into his grandmother at a garage sale where we chatted about vegetables and clothing (and bargains). She, of course, could never have imagined what her family was in for starting that night. And I was thinking yesterday (having lost a son myself) how important it is to treasure the days where vegetables and clothing seem worth talking about. Your friend is right -enjoy your purchases and maybe you could make a bookmark or fabric pin for your friend as a visible reminder of your care and prayers. God's strength IS made perfect in our weakness. We can do all things through Christ who strengthens us. Take care of You!
Carla - thank you and God bless you.

Angela - you're a gem :)
Lynn, I'm sorry to hear about your friend. I will be praying. News like this can make us feel low ourselves, but I know that you will draw strength from God.
Did you get my email today? It was so very kind of you to send me the last piece of your wonderful fabric. So generous. Thank you again. xx
God Bless Lynn,

I was so sorry to hear about your friend. I will be praying for her and her family. I think the thought you have on your side bar of God calming the child in the storm might apply here. You seem to be such a caring friend and i know God will use you to help her through this .
Blessings,
Sue

Thanks Candy Faith.
I have to ask you, did you have a blog called A Pretty Home? I haven't been able to access and have missed it - I just wondered if it is you?
